With utmost humility but with gratitude to God the almighty, the Enugu state union Hamburg wishes to extend our special welcome and thank you for accepting our invitation to this cultural day. This union a non making profit organization and deeply focused on forwarding our culture into the future through
Confrences, festivals and music as well as art exhibitions to foster peace, unity and love among members. We want to further our integration into the German society through the learning of German language, personal development and respect for the laws and regulations of our host nation. We also want to train our children in such a way that they will remain proud of their religious and cultural background and at the same time develop an understanding and respect for other cultures.
The reason for today’s celebration is to raise funds for the motherless babies in our home state. In life, one must always pause to think of the less-privileged and explore way to support them. We have chosen to help because what we have done for ourselves alone dies with us but what we have done for others remains and will be immortal.
Ladies and gentle men ,It is pertinent to note that our union underwent some difficult times in the past but today we are happy to say that we are eating with one spoon ,drinking with one cup and speaking with one voice. Special thanks to our Enugu brothers in Berlin, NCG Hamburg, Chief Illikanu and Emeka Amadi for their support and contributions at such time of prevailing importance.
The union has learnt as result that only unity will help us to work and live together peacefully, that unity will make us feel more connected with each other and all living things. With Unity, we shall value the specialness of each person as a gift, not as a reason to fight or be scared .With unity, we shall accomplish more together than any one of us could alone.
For the people that travelled from far and wide to grace this Occasion, especially the representatives of Enugu state government and Nigeria; your august presence has rejuvenated our resolve to work harder in supporting your efforts towards good governance. Your sacrifice to duty, perseverance and tenacity will be rewarded not by a grateful nation but the Almighty God.
For my brothers and sisters of Enugu State union Hamburg, we have a lot to do together. Let us do it with wisdom and love and joy, let us do all we can now that we can for time shall come when we cannot. Let us carry forward that precious gift of culture, and be prepared to pass it from generation to generation. The God given promise is that together we shall be stronger and pursue a life full of happiness. God Bless You and God Bless Enugu state.
